Naiche was more than just a war chief.

Naiche is best known as the last hereditary chief of the Chiricahua Apache. He was the son of Cochise, and a great leader in his own right as his band was moved to government reservations (on more than one occasion, Naiche escaped custody but was recaptured). He was a contemporary of Geronimo and the two often worked together.

But Naiche had another talent. He was/is considered one of the best Indian artists of the time. His color paintings on deerskin featured flowers, animals and other objects of nature.
